Rauf Yekta, a leading figure in Turkish musicology, holds an extensive body of work in Turkish Music history, composition, theory and performance. He will be commemorated 88 years after his death in Rauf Yekta Symposium. His original archive, which has yet to be studied, his rational approach to study of music, his musical identity, his compositions and composing style, his publications, his personality – a bridge between tradition and modernity, his multifaceted identity will be the subject of this symposium.
